Danny Mills joins Derby County on loan from Manchester City
Derby County have signed Manchester City defender Danny Mills on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The former England international has put pen to paper on a contract that runs until May 12th and he becomes new Rams boss Paul Jewell's first signing since taking over from Billy Davies in December.

Mills, whose registration has now been confirmed with the Football Association, goes straight into the Derby squad for the FA Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday and will wear squad number 27.

"Danny is joining us on loan until the end of this season and his experience and versatility will be invaluable to us," Jewell told Derby's official website.

"Danny has been playing at the highest level for a long time now, including a World Cup for England, so nothing will faze him.

"He is a hardened battler and will be great in the dressing room.

"With the injury problems we have at the moment Danny's versatility is also a big asset - he can play right-back or left-back."

Mills joins the setup at Pride Park with a hefty task ahead of him.

The club are currently rooted to the foot of the Premier League table with just one win all season.

Derby are also ten points adrift of safety and are odds-on favourites for the drop, meaning the FA Cup could take on extra importance as a distraction from the harsh realities of the league campaign.
