Derby County accept bid from Leicester City for skipper Matt Oakley
Derby County have accepted a £500,000 bid from Midlands rivals Leicester City for their captain Matt Oakley.
The 30-year-old, who joined on a free transfer from Southampton at the start of last season, was installed as skipper under former manager Billy Davies.
The Premier League's bottom side, who recently replaced Davies with Paul Jewell, have been particularly active in the transfer window so far.
The Rams have already signed Argentinean striker Emanuel Villa for £2 million; Robbie Savage has joined from Blackburn for £1.5 million; and Danny Mills has signed on loan from
Manchester City so far this month.
Jewell is also negotiating personal terms and international clearance in a bid to sign Laurent Robert on a free transfer, while Spurs' Hossam Ghaly is set to sign on a loan deal until the end of the season ahead of this weekend.
As well as the massive influx of players, however, the former
Wigan Athletic manager is already looking to offload several players who were part of the squad under Davies.
Striker Steve Howard has already made the move across to the Walkers Stadium to link up with new manager Ian Holloway in the Championship.
