Inter make move for Lamps

Monday, 07 Jul 2008 21:12
Inter are believed to have made £6.5m bid
Inter Milan are believed to have opened negotiations with Chelsea over the transfer of Frank Lampard.

Speaking at the G14 conference in Nyon, Switzerland Inter general manager Ernesto Paolillo confirmed their interest in the 30-year-old England international, but stressed that they have other options should they fail to reach a deal.

"Lampard is one, just one, of our targets," Paolillo said. "If he comes he will be welcome. "It is always a question between quality and price. If it is not possible to reach Lampard we will try something else."

Inter are believed to have faxed an initial offer for £6.5m for Lampard, who is in the last year of his contract and would be available on a free transfer next summer.

The recent arrival at Stamford Bridge of Portuguese international Deco, as well as their reported offer for Kaka would suggest that Lampard doesn't figure in new coach Luis Felipe Scolari's plans.

If Lampard does move to the San Siro he will be reunited with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.End of story
