Eduardo's injury shocked the Premier League's watching public
Injured
Arsenal striker Eduardo is "making satisfactory progress" in his battle to come back from his horrific leg fracture, according to the club.
The Croatian international suffered a compound fracture of his fibula and an open dislocation of his left ankle in a sickening incident during a Premier League match against
Birmingham City in February.
Estimates of his rehabilitation period have ranged from nine months to almost two years, although Gunners medical staff are still holding out hope he can be back before Christmas.
And in a statement on Eduardo's current condition, the club revealed he has now had the cast on his leg removed and would soon begin his rehabilitation work.
"As planned, Eduardo visited a specialist this morning," the Arsenal statement reads.
"X-rays show that he is making satisfactory progress and the full cast on his left leg was removed and has been replaced with an air boot for protection.
"Eduardo's road to recovery is on schedule and he will now start his rehabilitation programme."
The incident that resulted in the striker's injury made headlines at home and abroad, especially given the graphic images that captured the tackle from Blues defender Martin Taylor.
Taylor has come under fire from a number of quarters for his conduct, although he has apologised and visited Eduardo on at least one occasion to speak to him in person about what happened.
