David Gold considering selling up after Birmingham City's relegation
Co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold have admitted they are considering their positions after seeing Birmingham City relegated from the Premier League.

Despite a 4-1 win at home to Blackburn Rovers on the final day of the season, Blues were consigned to the drop by Fulham's 1-0 victory at Portsmouth and Reading's 4-0 success at bottom club Derby County.

And the final whistle saw some ugly scenes as supporters invaded the St Andrews pitch, tearing down the goalposts and venting their anger at the club's owners.

After the match, Gold told Sky Sports he had been "very disappointed… with some of the fans" and revealed he is eager to sell up.

"That's the first time in 15 years that I've received that kind of abuse, and I really don't want to be anywhere that I'm not wanted," he continued.

"And if I'm not wanted then I think that I'll probably resign."

Sullivan added: "It's a sad end to the season and the reaction from the supporters was awful.

"They want a change, but tell me how we make a change? There's not a queue of people who want to buy the club.

"I don't want to be here any longer. I don't need that, I don't need my kids in tears, I don't need abuse.

"I'd like somebody to buy my shares. Maybe David wants to buy my shares, I'd happily sell them. I'm a willing seller.

"I personally at this moment in time would like to move on."

Many fans blame Sullivan and Gold for the club's relegation after protracted negotiations with a Hong Kong investment group about a possible buyout were seen to have derailed their season.

Rumours over a change of ownership apparently forced former manager Steve Bruce to quit the club last year.

And Bruce later took over at Wigan Athletic, guiding the pre-season relegation favourites to safety with games to spare.End of story
