Manchester City 'leading the race to sign Ronaldinho'
Manchester City are leading the race to sign Brazilian star Ronaldinho, according to Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
The Eastlands outfit have reportedly already lodged a £25.5 million bid for the 28-year-old, which eclipses all other offers that have been received at the Nou Camp.
It remains unclear where Ronaldinho's future lies, as it was thought last week that he would ideally like a move to Italian giants AC Milan rather than to the Premier League.
However, Laporta has now revealed that the player and his agent are entertaining two varying financial packages - believed to be from City and Milan - and could be set to conclude the process some time this week.
"Ronaldinho and his agent have two interesting proposals and they are leaning more towards the one from Manchester City," Laporta told Catalunya Radio.
"We hope to be able to resolve the situation this week."
Officials from Manchester City, including new manager Mark Hughes, have already expressed their interest in bringing Ronaldinho to the club, where he would link up with fellow Brazilian Jo who became the club's record signing earlier this month.
