Blackburn Rovers sign defender Danny Simpson on season-long loan
Blackburn Rovers have completed the capture of
Manchester United defender Danny Simpson on a season-long loan deal.
Simpson becomes Rovers boss Paul Ince's third signing since taking over from Mark Hughes, having already completed the permanent signing of goalkeeper Paul Robinson from
Tottenham Hotspur and a loan move for Chilean winger Carlos Villanueva.
The 21-year-old comes to Ewood Park with Champions League experience, having made two appearances in the competition for United last season.
Simpson also spent the second half of the 2007/08 campaign on loan at Ipswich Town, where he featured eight times, having previously played for
Sunderland and United's Belgian feeder club Royal Antwerp.
Ince is pleased to have wrapped up the signing of the young right-back, but he admitted he is hoping to bring in one or two more players before the beginning of the season on August 16th.
"There's another couple of targets we are looking at and we hope to bring them through the door in the next couple of weeks," Ince added.
