Brown delighted to get his man
Hull City have completed the signing of former
Manchester City midfielder Geovanni.
The 28-year-old Brazilian joins the Tigers on a free transfer after being released by the Eastlands club earlier this week following a season where he started just two league games.
The former Barcelona man, who has one cap for Brazil, joined up with his new team-mates at their pre-season training camp in Italy and manager Phil Brown hopes he will play a key part in the newly promoted clubs bid to avoid the drop in their first ever season in the Premier League.
I think it's a tremendous coup for the football club to have him onboard and I'm certainly looking forward to working with a Brazilian international, Brown told the official Hull City website.
Brown has already identified a possible role in his side for the new arrival.
For me he is a ball-player, a bit of a play-maker," he said. He can play behind the frontline but can also feature on either flank.
The first time I watched Geovanni play was when he was at Barcelona in a game against
Liverpool at Anfield.
"I've only just spoken to him about that particular match which also featured the likes of Patrick Kluivert, Rivaldo and Luis Enrique.
And to have someone from that fixture now playing for Hull City is a testament to just how far we've come as a club.
Hull have also revealed that former Bolton defender Bernard Mendy will train with them this week before Brown decides whether or not to sign the French international on a permanent basis.
One player who wont be taking part in Hulls Premier League campaign is Henrik Pedersen, who has left the club and will return to Denmark.
