Spain coach Luis Aragones felt his side deserved to beat Sweden 2-1 with the win all but guaranteeing their passage into the quarter-finals.

The game was deadlocked at 1-1 as Fernando Torres scored for Spain and Zlatan Ibrahimovich replied for the Swedes. But then a brilliant individual goal from David Villa secured three crucial points for Spain.

Spain were nowhere near the destructive form which saw them hammer Russian 4-1, but Aragones said his team created enough chances and were worthy victors.

We're happy," said Aragones. "We had many chances in the second half and we managed to score.

"In the second half, we went out looking for the goal and things worked out. We were the boss of the ball in the second half.

"The team looked superior when it was on the ball. It was a good win against a very good team. We had a lot to lose coming in."

Spain's hard fought victory came at a price as key centre half Carles Puyol and midfielder David Silva both suffered injuries.

Barcelona skipper Puyol was forced off after just 25 minutes because of a foot injury and Silva suffered a similar injury. Aragones was unsure how long both players would be out for.
