Bopara misses out as Collingwood returns

Former captain Paul Collingwood replaces Ravi Bopara
Former one-day captain Paul Collingwood has been recalled to the England starting lineup for the second match of the series against South Africa.

The Durham man, who is returning after a four-match ban, replaces Essex all-rounder Ravi Bopara as the hosts look to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series at Trent Bridge.

Otherwise, the selectors have opted to stick with the same team that secured a 20-run victory over the Proteas at Headingley.

This means recalled wicketkeeper Matt Prior continues to open alongside Ian Bell; Steve Harmison keeps his place in the bowling attack after returning figures of 2-43 in Leeds; and promising all-rounder Luke Wright is retained.

Owais Shah remains at three, despite scoring just 12 in the first match last week, with captain Kevin Pietersen batting at four followed by Andrew Flintoff at five.

Collingwood is named at number six in the batting order, and will also provide a medium-pace bowling option for Pietersen.

Spinner Samit Patel is at seven, with Stuart Broad and James Anderson the other pace options alongside Harmison.

Ahead of the day-night game, South Africa won the toss and have chosen to bat first.

Full England lineup for second ODI against South Africa:

Matt Prior, Ian Bell, Owais Shah, Kevin Pietersen (captain), Andrew Flintoff, Paul Collingwood, Samit Patel, Luke Wright, Stuart Broad, Steve Harmison, James Anderson.
