England bowler Ryan Sidebottom is unlikely to feature in Thursday's third one-day international against India after being sent for a scan on his lower back.
The left-arms seamer suffered discomfort in practice and was immediately sent to hospital for a scan, the results of which will be known on Wednesday.
The England selectors will be desperately hoping for good news as they attempt to reverse their poor form which has seen the English side comprehensively beaten in each of the opening two one-day matches.
Sidebottom missed both those games with an unrelated Achilles problem, but was expected to come back in to come back into contention as England attempt to rescue the seven-game series.
Sidebottom hasn't featured in a one-day international since the NatWest Series against New Zealand last summer and is yet to feature in any match on the tour of India.
England are expected to make a number of changes for Thursday's match in Kanpur, with Graeme Swann a possible starter as part of a spin attack alongside Nottinghamshire team-mate Samit Patel.
