Bristol City remain one point clear at the top of the Championship despite being held to a goalless draw at home to Watford.

The hosts dominated much of the game with Marvin Elliott twice forcing saves from visiting keeper Richard Lee.

Darius Henderson missed a penalty to give the visitors a chance to sneak victory and reduce the gap between themselves and City in the table to just one point.

Elsewhere, Stoke City kept the pressure on the Ashton Gate side after a second-half header from Mamady Sidibe secured a 1-0 victory over Norwich City to reduce the gap to the leaders to just one point.

FA Cup semi-finalists Barnsley came from a goal behind to thrash Ipswich 4-1 and move away from the relegation zone.

Two goals from captain Brian Howard, a Jon Macken header and a late David Wright own goal cancelled out Pablo Counago's early opener.

Goals from Ramon Calderon, Rowan Vine and Patrick Agyemang gave QPR a 3-0 lead in their game against Blackpool.

And despite the visitors pulling two back in the second half, Rangers saw out the game and kept their hopes of a play-off place alive.

Wade Elliott hit a stunning second-half goal to give Burnley a 1-0 victory over Charlton and keep his side on the fringes of the play-off positions.

Sheffield Wednesday beat relegation rivals Colchester United 2-1, courtesy of a Wade Small goal to haul the Owls out of the bottom three.

Preston came from behind to beat Wolves 2-1 - Simon Whaley struck a superb winner ten minutes from full-time to add to Callum Davidson's penalty, which cancelled out Andy Keogh's 51st-minute strike.

Sheffield United's 2-1 victory means Coventry City are now without a win in their last eight games away from home.

Stern John's goal heaped more pressure on Leicester City, who slipped into the bottom three. The 1-0 victory helped Southampton move in the other direction towards safety.

Scunthorpe United gave their survival hopes a boost with a 1-0 win at home to Plymouth Argyle.
