Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes star striker Wayne Rooney will be fit to play in the Champions League final.
Rooney suffered a hip injury against Blackburn Rovers a fortnight ago, and though he played against Chelsea last Saturday, he aggravated the injury and missed the Champions League semi-final win over Barcelona in midweek.
Media reports this morning claimed that the England forward was also suffering from a groin injury which might require surgery and force him to miss the final against Chelsea.
Speaking before his side beat West Ham 4-1 in the Premier League to move three points clear of Chelsea, Ferguson told Sky Sports: "He will be fit for the final - no question about that, the big rush is now just to get him fit for next Saturday.
"With Wayne it is just that knock in the hip. When you get that knock, the bruising was there and he wants to play knowing Wayne.
"But it is has never cleared up, last Saturday against Chelsea he was struggling badly and we can't get rid of the bruised blood, it is trapped between the muscle and the hip joint so it is very painful, so once we clear that up the pain will go."
Ferguson also confirmed that he expected key defender Nemanja Vidic to recover from the concussion and facial injury he suffered against Chelsea in time for the trip to Wigan next Sunday.
