Will Gordon follow in Niemi's footsteps?
Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon has been the subject of a £2.5 million bid from Premiership side Fulham.
The Cottagers head a host of English clubs tracking the Scotland international and manager Chris Coleman is now ready to commit part of his sparse transfer kitty to landing the 24-year-old.
But prising the youngster from Tynecastle could prove tricky with the player on the record as saying he wants to stay with the Edinburgh outfit and coach Valdas Ivanauskas dismissive of the offer tabled.
Gordon, who was part of a players' revolt at the Jambos, has now been installed as club captain and his good form has helped propel the team up into fourth position in the league.
"They have interest in Craig but financial details are not my job. For me, that [£2.5million] is a very small price," said Ivanaukas.
If he were to cross the border Gordon would follow in the footsteps of current Fulham stopper Antti Niemi, who moved from Hearts to Southampton for £2 million in 2002 before establishing himself as one of the Premiership's finest.
