Bruce would only accept "crazy" money for Upson

Birmingham City manager Steve Bruce says it would take "an absolutely crazy" offer for him to consider selling prize defender Matthew Upson during the January transfer window.

Chelsea skipper John Terry has resumed training – one day after undergoing back surgery in France.

The Blues captain was shown jogging at the club's Cobham training ground in a picture on the club's website.

He had undergone revolutionary back surgery carried out by pioneering neurosurgeon Dr Jean Destandau yesterday.

"With this particular diagnosis, there is a way of removing the prolapsed disc which involves not cutting through any contractile structure - no muscle, no ligaments - just the disc that is causing the problem," club doctor Bryan English explained.

"The instructions from the surgeon were to run the day after surgery. That is great for us and great for John."

Experts had predicted a recovery time of up to six weeks for 26-year-old Terry but it now appears such forecasts are woeful overestimates.

The news of his extremely quick recovery will come as a great relief to Chelsea fans, who have seen their side's weakened defence concede six goals in four games since Terry's last appearance.
