Midfielder Sean Davis has joined Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer after his contract with Portsmouth expired.
Along with the departure of Davis, Pompey also released five other players. Noe Pamarot, Lauren, Glen Little, Djimi Traore and Jerome Thomas have all left the south coast club.
Veteran striker Nwankwo Kanu is also out of contract but is currently considering the new one-year deal he has been offered.
Pompey executive chairman Peter Storrie said the club hoped that free agent Sol Campbell would also consider staying at Fratton Park.
He said: "Kanu has the option of another year, which he is considering.
"There are not any discussions going on with Sol at the moment. In terms of whether there will be further discussions, well look at it next week."
Davis has finally joined Bolton after the Trotters had a £3.5 million bid for him turned down in January.
The 29-year-old said that Bolton's continued interest in him in the last six months meant they were his first choice ahead of a number of other clubs.
He said: "Bolton showed a genuine interest in January and I found that hugely encouraging. It is an exciting opportunity, not just for me but my family as well.
"I'm really looking forward to getting back and I'll be raring to go at the start of the season. I just want to come to Bolton and work hard, enjoy my football and take the club forward."
Davis has signed a three-year contract with the Trotters and will add vast Premier League experience to their midfield, having made more than 200 league appearances for Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth.
