West Ham sign goalkeeper Jan Lastuvka on season-long loan
West Ham United have signed Czech Republic goalkeeper Jan Lastuvka on a season-long loan from Shakhtar Donetsk, according to the player's club.
The official website of the Ukrainian side has confirmed the 26-year-old passed a medical at Upton Park at the weekend after agreeing terms over a long-term loan move with a view to a permanent switch.
Lastuvka, who has Premier League experience after spending a season with fellow London side
Fulham in 2006/07 when he made 12 first-team appearances, is expected to compete with Rob Green for the number one shirt this season.
And the player himself has already confirmed to eastern European news agency CTK that he is preparing for training with countryman Ludek Miklosko, who is the Hammers' goalkeeping coach.
"On Monday I have a light training with him," Lastuvka said.
"The team play a friendly match but I will not play in it. I hope that I will get into good shape overall and will be as helpful to the team as possible.
"So far I have had only good feelings."
