Fast bowler Steve Harmison says he is not expecting a recall to the England Test side despite a strong performance against Australia for the Lions.

The Durham seamer has troubled opener Phillip Hughes in both innings and dismissed skipper Ricky Ponting at New Road yesterday.

Despite his good form Harmison expects England's tactics of using two spinners in the first Ashes Test next week to rule him out of the Test line up.

He said: "I've made it difficult for the selectors. But I don't think they will pick me for Cardiff.

"I think they are going to play two spinners in that game so I don't fit into that plan.

"I fully understand if that is the case. I will go back and play for Durham, work hard and try again for Lord's."

Harmison is the second-highest wicket-taker in the country at present but he is confident he will only get recalled to the side if there is an injury or if England are losing the series.

"If I still don't get in then, they know I'm fit and causing Australia problems if and when they need me," added the 30-year-old.

"They know what I'm about but if they don't pick me, it will probably mean England are winning the series."

Harmison's last outing for England was against West Indies in Antigua in February where he collected match figures of 2-98.
