Strachan has bolstered his ranks considerably this summer
AC Milan midfielder Massimo Donati has signed for Scottish champions Celtic on a four-year contract.
The 26-year-old, believed to have cost Gordon Strachan's side in the region of £3.5 million, will undergo a medical at Parkhead in the next few days before his signing is confirmed.
Celtic are thought to have beaten off competition from a number of Serie A clubs for the player's signature, including Atalanta where Donati was on loan last season.
In confirming the new acquisition, a Celtic spokesperson said: "We are delighted that Massimo has signed for the club.
"He is a player of real quality and we're sure he will be a great addition to our squad."
In 2001, Donati commanded a transfer fee of £10 million when he joined Milan from Atalanta.
However he struggled to break into the first-team at the San Siro and was subsequently loaned out to a number of clubs, including Parma, Torino and Sampdoria as well as Atalanta.
Donati joins as the Bhoys' fourth new signing of the summer, following the arrival of Hibernian's highly-rated pair Scott Brown and Chris Killen, and Motherwell's Scott McDonald.
