New Birmingham City president Carson Yeung has revealed he plans to give manager Alex McLeish a transfer kitty of up to £40 million to spend in January.
In a bid to salvage the club's Premier League status, Yeung, who has now finally completed his buyout of the club, said he will dip into his own pocket to fund a major raid on the transfer market.
"I've been talking to Alex about his need for players," Yeung told the press at his first news conference since purchasing the Blues outright.
"My first plan is to support the club with about £20 million to £40 million in January, including wages.
"I just care about January, it is a very important time for me. In the future I will put even more time and more money in to support the club."
Joint vice chairman Sammy Yu, who it was revealed will be heavily involved with the playing side of the club alongside McLeish, added: "We are working together for the future, myself, Alex and Mr Yeung.
"We have a shortlist of players and we will go for it."
Yeung bought the club under his company name of Grandtop International Holdings from previous chairman David Sullivan and director Karren Brady for more than £80 million.
The takeover was officially completed on Monday and Yeung has already set out his ambitious aims for the club, who are currently 14th in the Premier League and already preparing themselves for a relegation battle this season.
