Professional wrestler Chris Benoit has been found dead along with his wife and son in an apparent murder-suicide at the family home in Atlanta, Georgia.
The 40-year-old, who was famous around the world as a leading figure in World Wrestling Entertainment's events, appears to have taken his own life after killing both wife Nancy and the couple's seven-year-old son Daniel over the weekend.
All three reportedly died of asphyxiation, with the son apparently smothered in his bedroom and his mother strangled in an office in the family home.
It is believed that Benoit then hung himself using the pulley rope of a weights machine.
Benoit recently failed to fulfil two scheduled appearances in WWE events after informing organisers that he was unavailable due to an "undisclosed family emergency".
After friends received strange text messages, they contacted WWE to raise concerns over Benoit's mental state.
The police carried out a welfare check on the star's home earlier today during which the bodies were discovered.
