The US military has said it has found a torture complex used by terrorists in the Iraqi province of Diyala.
A spokesperson for the US army operating in the country said the site in the town of Muqdadiyah in central Iraq was discovered after information was received from local sources.
An operation launched soon later resulted in the discovery of the detention complex and an "atrocity site".
The US military said the torture complex consisted of three detention facilities which had chains on the walls and ceiling of the room and a bed connected to an electrical system.
Several blood-stained items were also found on the site, according to the spokesperson.
During the operation in the area several bodies were found in "mass graves next to execution sites".
The US military claimed to have killed 24 terrorists and arrested 37 suspects in recent missions conducted under Operation Iron Reaper, which aims to improve security in the country's northern provinces.
