Demonstrators have vowed to continue their protest against the Thai government a day after violent clashes with the police broke out in Bangkok.
Troops are continuing to patrol the capital and police are reported to be guarding the prime minister Chavalit Yongchaiyudh's residence after yesterday's clashes left two people dead and hundreds more injured.
Protestors from the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) have been occupying the grounds in front of government buildings for the last six weeks.
The group claim that Mr Somchai is acting as a proxy for ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and want the government to resign.
On Tuesday, a suspected car bomb was detonated in Bangkok and police fired tear gas at protestors as they tried to stop MPs from entering the Thai parliament.
Sirichai Maingam, from the PAD told TV3 television that the group's protest would continue.
"We can't stand this government with blood on its hands. More people will hit the streets to oust this government," he said.
