The Tamil Tiger rebel group has bombed military targets in Sri Lanka's north-east as its battle with the country's government continues.
A spokesman for the military, Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara, said three bombs had been dropped in the Welioya region.
Speaking to the Reuters news agency, he said: "At about 01:35 am they came and dropped three bombs on the Welioya Forward Defence line. Nobody was hurt, and no damage to any property."
It follows the launching of a government drive to root out the rebels. Recently the government has claimed to have made large gains against the Tigers, who occupy the country's northern and eastern territories.
The rebel group has responded to the government offensive with bomb blasts that killed a government minister and 11 other earlier this month and an attack on a bus last Friday that claimed 26 lives.
Sri Lanka has been engaged in a civil war that has spanned two decades and claimed over 70,000 lives with the separatist group seeking an independent homeland for the country's Tamil population.
