At least 14 American soldiers have died after a series of air crashes in Afghanistan.
The first incident, involving two helicopters colliding midair in the south of the country, left four soldiers dead and two more injured.
In a separate incident seven US troops and three civilians were killed when a helicopter crashed in western Afghanistan.
The cause of the crash has yet to be confirmed, although US military sources have ruled out hostile fire.
Investigations into both incidents are now underway.
Washington is currently waiting on the result of a presidential election runoff between Hamid Karzai and Abdullah Abdullah before confirming a massive influx of troops to the country.
Thirty US soldiers have died in October already.
