A repeat vote in Florida to elect the Democrats' presidential nominee has been ruled out by the state party's chairwoman.

Congresswoman Karen Thurman said in a letter to party supporters that "Florida doesn't want to vote again".

The Florida Democratic Party had asked for responses to a proposed state-wide revote after the Democratic National Committee (DNC) invalidated the January 29th outcome for being held too early.

Senator Hillary Clinton won Florida's January vote as well as the Democrats' Michigan vote, which was also deemed invalid for being held too early.

Ms Thurman said "thousands of people" responded to the second vote proposal.

"The consensus is clear: Florida doesn't want to vote again. So we won't," she said in a statement.

"A party-run primary or caucus has been ruled out, and it's simply not possible for the state to hold another election, even if the party were to pay for it."

The party chairwoman added that a solution to the situation will have to come from the DNC rules and bylaws committee, which is scheduled to meet again in April.
