Prince Harry and his comrades from Afghanistan have received campaign medals for their service in Afghanistan today.

The 23-year-old Prince, known as Lieutenant Wales, marched through the streets of Windsor with around 160 members of the Household Cavalry who served with him this winter.

His aunt, the Princess Royal presented the medal in her capacity as colonel of the Blues and Royals.

Prince Harry grinned and blushed as the Afghanistan medal was pinned on his chest and chatted to his aunt for around 30 seconds before she moved off, according to Sky News.

Chelsy Davy, the prince's girlfriend, was among senior members of the royal family watching Prince Harry receive his first army campaign medal at the ceremony at Combermere Barracks in Windsor.

Among those watching the ceremony was the Prince of Wales, wearing a tie in the colours of the Household Cavalry, burgundy and navy.

During his time in Afghanistan, Prince Harry served at Garmsir in southern Helmand and Musa Qaleh. To qualify for the Afghanistan Medal, soldiers must have served a minimum of four weeks.

However his planned four-month tour of duty was cut short after ten weeks in February when details of his deployment were reported around the world.

After the ceremony they paraded to Windsor's Garrison church, led by the band of the Blues and Royals, for a service dedicated to those in the British forces who were killed during the units recent six-month tour of duty to Helmand Province.
