At least 42 people have been killed after a packed bus in the south Asian country of Nepal fell into a ravine.
Local officials have indicated that 43 people have been injured, with the death toll expected to rise owing to many of these passengers being in a critical condition.
More than 100 people are thought to have been on the bus, which came off a road in Luham, Salyan district, which is about 450km north-west of the capital Kathmandu.
Shankar Yadav, a district police officer, told the AFP news agency that the bus plunged more than 250m into the ravine.
Many of the passengers are reported to be women and children.
Road accidents in the Himalayan country frequently occur due to the poor state of its road infrastructure.
