The mother of the Austrian girl who was held captive in a "dungeon" in Vienna, Austria, for eight years has said that she is yet to see her daughter for any great length of time.
Natascha Kampusch, now 18, was kidnapped on March 2nd 1998 on her way to school by Wolfgang Priklopil, who forced her to live in cramped conditions in a secret basement room and call him "master".
Ms Kampusch escaped last week when Priklopil became distracted by a phone call. Within hours of the escape her captor had thrown himself in front of a train.
Speaking to Austrian daily Kurier, Brigitta Sirny said: "Why can I not see my child?" Ms Sirny explained that apart from a brief reunion on Wednesday, neither her or ex-husband and Natascha's father Ludwig Koch had seen their daughter.
But police say that the 18-year-old has not requested to see her parents and that as she is an adult she is capable of making her own decisions.
Carers say that Ms Kampusch has voluntarily submitted herself to interim psychological care at an unknown location, another fact that has upset her parents.
"Natascha is shut away once again. It's terrible for me. Psychologists and doctors, that's all good and important. But my daughter also needs her mother," Ms Sirny said.
Carers have said that their main priority is to ensure that Natascha can be safely reintroduced to normal life, having previously expressed concern herself over the media interest that surrounds her.
