The future of Molly Campbell is still yet to be decided, following a Pakistani court's decision to adjourn an appeal hearing by her father, Sajad Rana, seeking to overturn a recent court ruling.
A Pakistani high court recently ordered that 12-year-old Molly, also known as Misbah Rana, should return to Britain to live with her mother after travelling to Pakistan to be with her father in August.
Mr Rana, 45, has since made an appeal to overturn the ruling in the hope that he will be able to maintain custody of his daughter in Pakistan. It is alleged by Molly's mother, Louise Campbell, that Molly was taken from her illegally.
In light of these claims a high court judge in Lahore ordered that Molly be delivered to the British High Commission to be sent back to her mother in Scotland. The judge argued that Molly's case should be heard in Scottish courts due to the fact that Molly was a Scottish resident. This is in compliance with existing rules stating that children should be returned to their home countries in custody cases.
Molly has expressed wishes to stay with her father in Pakistan, where all three of her siblings currently reside. She will remain in Pakistan while the appeal is heard.
The appeal is due to be heard on December 8th.
