At least 700 people are reported to have been injured in an earthquake in southern Iran.
The US geological survey recorded the quake of 4.8-magnitude at a depth of 44.6 miles and 15 miles from the port city of Bandar-e Abbas.
The quake struck at 02:56 local time (23:56 GMT last night) and according to reports left power and telephone lines cut.
There have so far been no reported deaths as a result.
The state run news agency IRNA claims around 100 of the injured required hospital treatment while the rest suffered minor injuries.
Iran has historically been prone to earthquakes due to its proximity to seismic fault lines, with some 26,000 people killed in an earthquake centred around the city of Bam in 2003.
