Investigators probing the disappearance of an Air France aeroplane that went missing over the Atlantic Ocean on Monday sent 24 error messages before it was lost.
The communications were sent by the jet's automated system to inform controllers that its systems were being disrupted.
It is thought the Airbus A330 crashed en-route from Paris to Rio de Janiero, although no evidence of such an event has yet been discovered.
The head of France's aviation accident investigation bureau, Alain Bouillard, said the various systems on board the plane went down one by one, prompting the repeated warnings of problems on board.
Some reports have suggested a storm brought the plane down, but experts have dismissed the theory as "highly unlikely" given weather patterns over the Atlantic at the time.
