The 73-year-old Austrian man accused of imprisoning his daughter for 24 years and fathering six children with her, acted alone, officials have claimed.
Prosecutor Gerhard Sedlacek told the Austrian press agency that he believed Josef Fritzl acted without an accomplice during the two decades.
Mr Fritzl is accused of sexually assaulting his daughter Elisabeth during her imprisonment and forensic experts are still examining the cellar where she lived with several of her children.
The 73-year-old has been in police custody since April and is yet to be formally charged.
Last week, it was reported that some of Elisabeth's children were keen to return to school following their ideal.
Elisabeth's eldest daughter Kerstin, 19, is also reported to be slowly coming out of a medically induced coma.
It was Kerstin's hospitalisation that initially made police aware of the Mr Fritzl's alleged activities.
