British pro-Tibetan protestors released
Two Britons arrested for unveiling pro-Tibet banners in Beijing have returned to the UK.

Lucy Fairbrother, 23, and Iain Thom, 24, were arrested on Wednesday along with two Americans after they unfurled banners and Tibetan flags near the Olympic stadium.

Speaking at London City Airport this afternoon, Mr Thom said they wanted to place a spotlight on China's human rights record.

He added that the "movement is building" and promised there would be more protests during the Olympics.

The 24-year-old said the group "wanted to make a call to world leaders and the Chinese government for meaningful engagement and change in Tibet".

He confirmed they had been taken in to custody but said it was nothing compared to the way in which Chinese citizens or Tibetans were treated.

"We will continue to fight until Tibet is free," he declared.

Chinese officials described the group's action on Wednesday as "an illegal gathering".

The opening ceremony for the Olympic Games is set to take place on Friday.End of story
