US officials have said that three men arrested over the weekend carrying rifles and ammunition posed no real danger to the Democrat presidential nominee Barack Obama.
Reports yesterday suggested that Tharin Gartrell, 28, Nathan Johnson, 32, and Shawn Robert Adolf, 33, had been arrested after making threats to kill Mr Obama.
The Illinois senator is set to accept his party's official nomination as the presidential candidate in a speech at the Democrat convention in Denver, Colorado on Thursday.
Mr Gartrell was arrested in Aurora on Sunday after he was seen driving erratically.
His vehicle was found to contain a bulletproof vest, two rifles, ammunition, walkie-talkies and drugs.
Mr Johnson and Mr Adolf were then arrested during police raids, with the latter breaking his ankle after jumping from the sixth floor of a block of flats.
The three men, however, do not appear to have had the capacity to carry out any form of attack on Mr Obama, US officials have said.
Colorado federal prosecutor Troy Eid said that all three men appear to have been high on methamphetamine at the time of arrests and described their "threats" against the Democrat senator as "the racist ramblings of three meth heads".
Bill Clinton is set to address the Democrat convention later tonight.
