North Korea has threatened to undo years of negotiations after revealing it has halted its nuclear disablement programme.
Pyongyang said on Tuesday it could reactive its main nuclear reactor after the US failed to remove it from a list of state sponsors of terrorism.
The reclusive Communist state agreed to end its nuclear activities in return for fuel aid last year, with reactors going offline from November 2007.
But the country's official Korean Central News Agency said in a statement: "We decided to immediately halt disablement work that had been underway in accordance with the October 3rd agreement.
"This measure took effect on August 14th and we have already informed relevant countries."
