A masked man has stabbed a young child to death in a Dutch primary school.
The child is believed to be about eight-years-old but it has not been confirmed whether they were male or female.
Dutch newspaper Der Telefgraaf reports that the incident occurred at about 11:15 local time (10:35 GMT) this morning in the town of Hoogerheide, 90 miles south of the capital Amsterdam.
A police helicopter was involved in the subsequent emergency response and a man was arrested at the scene, the paper adds.
Local mayor Pim Meeuwisse said a crisis centre has been set up in the town at the local church hall.
A neighbour told Dutch TV station NOS that she believed the child was killed by his or her father, but this has not been confirmed by police.
