Fourteen Indian policemen have died after a mine was remotely detonated under their vehicle in a suspected Maoist rebel attack.
The attack took place in the eastern town of Bokaro, which is 130km (80 miles) from the state capital Ranchi, with more then 11 officers injured as a result.
Police chief MS Bhatia told the Reuters news agency: "We have rushed 11 with serious injuries to a hospital."
About 6,000 people are thought to have died in Jharkand state and the wider region as a result of the rebel's two decade-long fight for communist rule.
Today's mine attack follows reports of a gunfight between rebels and police in neighbouring Chhattisgarh state, with four Maoist insurgents said to have been killed.
