Seven people were killed and 12 critically hurt after a suspected terrorist attack at a cafe on the outskirts of Islamabad,
Pakistan.
Initial reports linking the blast to a faulty gas cylinder have been largely discounted by police.
Officials said the victims mostly included truck drivers who had stopped at the Yamaha Chowk cafe.
Pakistan has suffered from a wave of violence in recent months, with 67 people dying in a suicide bombing outside an arms factory in the capital last week.
The resignation of Pervez Musharraf as president a staunch ally of the US war on terror has exasperated the situation with Islamic militants further.
On Wednesday officials revealed persistent violence in the north-west regions of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan had prompted the army to impose a curfew on the main town of Wana.
"The curfew has been imposed for an indefinite period," senior government official Shahab Ali Shah said.
