An ice storm in eastern Canada and the north-eastern United States has killed at least one person and left thousands without electricity.
The extreme winter weather has brought thick snow, freezing rain and strong winds, leaving roads slicked with ice.
Hundreds of flights have been cancelled across New England in the US while flights from New York and Chicago's O'Hare international airport are also subject to severe delays.
Environment Canada says that residents in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto are contending with up to 16in of snow.
According to local media a woman was killed in London, Ontario, after being hit by a snow plough when she left her vehicle to clear ice from her windshield.
Earlier this month a similar storm in the US Midwest left more than 150,000 people without power and was blamed for the deaths of up to 40 people.
