A new forensic report into the death of Scarlett Keeling is to reveal the teenager was killed by having her head forcibly held underwater.

The 15-year-old's body was found on a beach in Goa, India, on February 8th. She had been left with her boyfriend's family while her mother and sisters travelled around the neighbouring region for three weeks.

Local police initially claimed the British teen had drowned accidentally only for pressure from Scarlett's mother Fiona McKeown to force a second inquest.

A second post mortem showed Scarlett had been raped and murdered and now a new report is expected to confirm that she had been forcibly drowned, by having her head held under water for up to ten minutes.

According to Sky News, the chief pathologist's inquiry also states the amount of drugs found in Scarlett's body was insufficient to have caused her death and that drugs may have been added to her body after her death.,

Ms McKeown told the broadcaster the new information shows there was an attempt by Goan police to cover up Scarlett's death.

"I want the police brought to justice. They have interfered with the evidence - this is proof.

"This is something that we knew had happened all along."

She added: "It has been my gut instinct all along. She had marks on her body that proved she struggled.

"I feel very shocked. My daughter had a horrible death and fought to the end."

Her lawyer Vikram Varma told the Sun newspaper the findings of the report indicated "what we've been saying all along and what the police have been trying to cover up."

"We will be going to the High Court to press for a CBI [national police] investigation.'
