There are rumours in France that President Nicolas Sarkozy, 55, and his wife Carla Bruni are both having extra-marital affairs.
Currently the affairs are just rumour, but several 'tweets' on micro-blogging site Twitter claim Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy, 42, could be having an affair with award-winning singer, Benjamin Biolay.
Meanwhile her husband, who married his wife two years ago, was alleged to be having a relationship with married ecology minister, Chantal Jouanno, 40. He is yet to confirm or deny the allegations.
The presidential pair married after knowing each other for just three months, and only shortly after the French president split from his second wife Cecilia Ciganer-Albeniz.
The Journal du Dimanche reported that Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy and Mr Biolay went to Thailand a few weeks ago for a holiday that was cut short when the president called her back to Paris.
On its website, the newspaper reported: "It's the gossip of the moment that could become the story of the year."
A spokesman for Mrs Jouanno said she was "scandalised by this rumour" and was prepared to pursue legally any "slanderous comments".
Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy once famously remarked that she is "easily bored by monogamy", and is reported to have been involved with such famous faces as Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton.
