A member of the RAF has died after being struck by an avalanche during a training exercise in Bavaria, Germany.
The Ministry of Defence said the unnamed individual, whose next of kin have been informed, was killed in the incident in Oberstdorf yesterday.
He was among 27 UK troops taking part in a ski training exercise when the avalanche struck.
"The individual was taking part in an adventurous training exercise when he was caught in an avalanche," an MoD statement said.
"The MoD would like to express sincere condolences to the family at this very sad time."
