At least seven people have been killed after a bomb exploded on a commuter train in Sri Lanka today.
Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara confirmed to the AFP news agency that the blast hit the Colombo-Panadura train whilst it sat in Dehiwala train station.
The Sri Lankan military confirmed that 62 other people were injured in today's bombing, which has been blamed on the Tamil Tiger rebels.
It also claimed to have defused two other bombs found on public buses over the weekend.
Less than two weeks ago a suicide bomber rode a bike packed with explosives into a bus carrying police officers.
And earlier on Monday, airforce helicopters attacked Tamil Tiger positions after fighting killed 21 rebels and a soldier yesterday.
The Tamil Tiger movement has long campaigned for an independent Tamil region and has been fighting with government forces for decades.
At least 70,000 people are believed to have been killed since the civil war broke out in Sri Lanka in 1983.
