A British man convicted of having sex on a Dubai beach has been re-arrested as he tried to board a flight back to the UK, his lawyer has claimed.
Vince Acors, 34, from Bromley, south-east London, was due to arrive at Heathrow airport this morning following his deportation from the country.
However, he was apparently detained at Dubai airport and ordered to return to jail as he tried to leave.
Acors and Michelle Palmer, 36, from Rutland, were initially given three-month prison terms after being convicted of having unmarried sex and public indecency, although their sentences were later suspended on appeal.
The 34-year-old was originally due to return to the UK on Friday but there was apparently a problem with the deportation process meaning he spent the weekend in jail.
On Monday Acors' lawyer, Andrew Crossley, said: "The return of Vince Acors has been delayed yet again and he will not be returning to the UK tomorrow.
"The situation is close to becoming farcical and Vince is severely disappointed.
"After having booked and confirmed his return flight on three separate occasions, through the course of the day Vince was re-arrested at Dubai Airport, as his flight confirmation was allegedly not in order.
"He has been returned to jail, his precise return is now unknown."
Acors and Palmer were witnessed having sex on Jumeirah beach in July after meeting during a champagne brunch at one of Dubai's luxury hotels.
