Russia and the EU are set to meet today at a summit in France to discuss the world's financial crisis.
The EU and Russia hope to reach an agreement ahead of the G20 meeting in Washington on Saturday.
President Dmitry Medvedev said: "I think that we are going to speak with one voice in Washington."
"Russia is ready, together with the EU and other partners, to participate in working out the parameters of a new financial architecture," President Medvedev told reporters ahead of the summit.
Talks on a long-term partnership between the EU and Russia will also be restarted, after they were postponed following the war in Georgia.
The EU is keen to improve commercial relations with Russia and generate wider access to the country's oil and gas sectors.
Ahead of the meeting, the European Commission has proposed a new energy strategy, which sets out areas where action is needed to secure sustainable energy supplies.
The strategy aims to help the EU lessen its reliance on Russia for its energy needs.
