A survivor of the Chinese earthquake has been pulled from the rubble some 11 days after the tremor, according to state television.
Xiao Zhihu, a partially-paralysed 80-year-old man, was discovered in Mianzhu city on Friday, having been trapped under a pillar when the earthquake hit Sichuan province.
Xiao had been given food and water by his wife since being trapped by the tremor, according to the official China News Service.
He is currently in a stable condition after being freed some 266 hours after the quake, the report added.
His recovery comes after the day after United Nations (UN) secretary general the epicentre of the earthquake which is believed to have killed more than 60,000 people.
"The Chinese government, at the early stage of this natural disaster, has invested strenuous effort and demonstrated extraordinary leadership," he said after arriving by helicopter in the small town of Yingxiu, which is thought to have lost at least two-thirds of its inhabitants since the May 12th tremor.
Chinese leader Wen Jiabao told Mr Ban that the death toll in China has now exceeded 60,000 and could rise as high as 80,000.
Almost 30,000 people are still missing since the quake, which collapsed more than five million buildings, according to state officials.
