Pope Benedict XVI calls on religions to unite against terrorism
Pope Benedict XVI has called on all religions to unite in the war against terrorism and help resolve conflicts peacefully.

Speaking in Australia on the Catholic World Youth Day, the Pope said: "The church eagerly seeks opportunities to listen to the spiritual experience of other religions.

"In a world threatened by sinister and indiscriminate forms of violence, the unified voice of religious people urges nations and communities to resolve conflict through peaceful means and with full regard for human dignity."

Pope Benedict angered some Muslim in 2006 he made remarks thought to imply Islam was a violent religion.

The Pope has yet to apologise, as expected, to the victims of sexual abuse at the hands of priests, during his trip.

He has received a rapturous welcome so far on his visit to Australia, though, and is due to remain there until Sunday.End of story
