A former Boeing engineer has been arrested on charges of stealing trade secrets for China, the US Justice Department said.
He is one of four people arrested in the US on suspicion of spying for China it was announced today.
The engineer is accused of passing on information related to aerospace programs, including Space Shuttle details.
In a separate case a US defence department official and two others were arrested on espionage charges involving passing classified documents to China.
They have been named as Tai Shen Kuo, 58, and Yu Xin Kang, 33, both from New Orleans and Gregg William Bergersen, 51, of Alexandria, Virginia.
Kuo and Kang have been charged with "conspiracy to disclose national defence information to a foreign government".
Bergersen meanwhile is accused of "conspiracy to disclose national defence information to persons not entitled to receive it".
Bergersen and Kuo are due to make appearances in federal court in Alexandria today, while Kang will appear in front of a federal court in New Orleans.
US officials are due to make a statement later tonight.
