The bodies of two people and assorted debris from Air France flight 447, which went missing over the Atlantic earlier this week, has been found.
According to the Brazilian air force, the remains of the male individuals discovered has been taken away for examination.
The debris includes a suitcase, a backpack, a computer and a plane ticket, which provides the evidence that it is indeed from the missing plane.
Colonel Jorge Amaral told a Recife news conference: "We confirm the recovery from the water of debris and bodies from the Air France plane."
The remains were found around 500 miles north-east of the islands of Fernando de Noronha, off Brazil's northern coast.
All 228 passengers aboard the flight are thought to have been killed on the way to Rio de Janiero from Paris on Monday.
